Learn German in open German courses (Offene Deutschkurse)

Our open German courses are suitable for everyone. You can learn German flexibly and at your own pace. Whether for work, study or everyday life - you decide how intensively you want to learn.
What are open German courses?
There are no formal requirements or obligations for participation. Participation in official examinations is optional and can be booked additionally.
These courses are for you if you:
- want to improve your German language skills - for everyday life, work or study.
- favour flexible times without state requirements.
- with little or a lot of previous knowledge - from beginner to professional

- Duration:
- 9 weeks (180 lessons)
- Times:
- Monday to Friday (20 hours/week)
- mornings or afternoons
- Language level:
- from A1 to
- without examination - can be booked additionally
Why an intensive course?
- They learn quickly and intensively.
- An intensive course fulfils the requirements for a language visa.

- Duration:
- 9 weeks (54 lessons).
- Times:
- Mondays and Wednesdays in the evening
- Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evening
- Language level:
- from A1 to C1
- without examination - can be booked additionally
Why an evening course?
- Ideal if you work or study during the day.
- Learn relaxed and for as long as you like - 9 weeks for one course or several years to go from beginner to pro

Specialised courses to improve German language skills in specific areas.
- Exam preparation courses:
- Preparation for important German examinations (e.g. telc, Goethe-Zertifikat)
- Prerequisite: Course level corresponding to the exam
- Conversation courses:
- Improvement of oral German language skills
- Prerequisite: At least German at level B1
- German writing at level B2 and C1:
- Practice writing different types of texts
- Prerequisite: At least German at level B1
Information on the language visa
An intensive course with 20 lessons per week fulfils the requirements for a language visa. How to enrol:
- Write an e-mail to daf@vhs-ol.de and provide this information:
- Which course? (level and start date)
- How long would you like to study? (max. 1 year)
- Your name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth
- What happens afterwards?
- You will receive a confirmation of registration
- You pay the course fee
- You will then receive an extended confirmation of registration for your embassy or immigration office

Have you already learnt German?

No, I don't speak any German yet
- You can start directly with an A1.1 course.
- You do not need a placement test.
- Simply register directly for the course.

Yes, I can already speak some German
- If you already know German, we will take a placement test with you.
- This way we know which course suits you best.
